SYNOPSIS

AMY MANDELL (Julie Davis) is a 29-year old self-help author who, having been burned by men over and over, has made it her mission to convince women that they don't need men to establish their self-worth. Hence -- stay single and celibate and you will complete yourself without the help of a man. Fine in theory - but not so fine in practice for a woman whose most intimate relationship is with her vibrator, and whose professional cynicism may be the very thing keeping her from discovering what's missing in her own life. Suffering from a deep fraud complex, Amy finds her only solace in confession, where she can truly let down her guard to the most neutral of listeners - THE PRIEST (Jeff Cesario). Little does she know the frustrations he feels as she talks about her relationship shortcomings and colorful sexual escapades. Is he falling in love with her, or simply living vicariously through this neurotic Jewish girl who frequents his booth? Despite the persistent urgings of her happily married friends DON and ELIZABETH (Mitchell Whitfield and Jennifer Bransford), Amy refuses to entertain the possibility of giving love a chance. But when Amy meets MATTHEW STARR (Nick Chinlund), a shock jock known for his sexist on-air antics, irresistible charm, and sexual prowess, she takes on the ultimate challenge. This man calls her on her fears, and recognizes the sexual repression that is driving her nuts. He is sure he can help. Despite the protests of her controlling publicist, JANET (Caroline Aaron), and her loyal fans, Amy finally throws down her guard and dares to experience the most elusive orgasm of all - love. "Amy's Orgasm" marks the follow-up to Julie Davis' feature debut "I Love You, Don't Touch Me!" The film was critically acclaimed by The New York Times' Janet Maslin, who dubbed Julie "the female Woody Allen," and The Los Angeles Times' Kenneth Turan who called Julie "a fresh new voice, one that is sexy, honest and consistently funny."

About the Cast

JULIE DAVIS ("Amy") (Director/Writer/Editor/Producer), wrote, produced, directed and edited the ultra low budget comedy "I Love You, Don't Touch Me!" which premiered at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival, and was theatrically released in 1998 by MGM/Goldwyn Films. Opening to enthusiastic reviews from The Los Angeles Times' Kenneth Turan, who called the film "sexy, honest and consistently funny," and The New York Times' Janet Maslin, who dubbed Davis "the female Woody Allen," Davis was able to raise the independent financing for her second film "Amy's Orgasm." Following the same themes as her debut film, but acting as the "more mature, grown-up version of it," "Amy's Orgasm" deals with the neuroses that accompany post-feminist sex in the new millennium. Davis makes her feature film acting debut in the role of self-help author Amy Mandell, and is proud to say that after ten years of working as a stand-in, movie extra and soft porn video editor, she is finally living her dream. Davis' third film, the romantic comedy "All Over the Guy," was released in August 2001 by Lions Gate.

Born and raised in East Harlem, NICK CHINLUND (Matthew Starr) left the city to play basketball at Brown University. His hoops career was cut short, however, when he suffered an injury during his freshman year. He remained a student at Brown and took up acting classes, realizing soon thereafter that acting was his true calling. After graduating from Brown, Chinlund moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career. Chinlund began his acting career in theater, appearing in such plays as "Maps For Drowners," "A View From the Bridge," "Partners" and "Street Scene." He worked at the Williamstown Theater Festival for two years where he performed in "Mother Courage," "The Legend of Oedipus" and "American Clock." His off-Broadway credits include "Owl's Breath," "Mothers, Brothers and Others" and "Corner Boys." Throughout his career, Chinlund has appeared in numerous television series including "Red Shoe Diaries," "NYPD Blue," "Providence," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and several episodes of "Third Watch." He also received critical acclaim as a nail and hair fetishist on "The X-Files." Chinlund's credits on the big screen began with a role opposite Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in "Lethal Weapon 3." He has continued to appear in many high-profile films over the years, including "Bad Girls," opposite Drew Barrymore, the Arnold Schwarzenegger film "Eraser," "Con Air," with Nicolas Cage and John Cusack and "Disney's The Kid," with Bruce Willis.

CAROLINE AARON (Janet) has recently completed lensing the independent feature films "Pumpkin" opposite Christina Ricci, "When Billie Beat Bobby" opposite Holly Hunter, "Mow" for ABC and "The Adventures of Joe Dirt" starring David Spade. Aaron will be starring in "Call Waiting," a one-woman play, opening April 1st of this year. She can also be seen in "Nobody's Baby" with Gary Oldman and Mary Steenburgen, which recently premiered at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival. Additionally, Aaron will be seen in an upcoming episode of Alan Ball's ("American Beauty") new television series, "Six Feet Under," and in the independent feature film "Never Again," with Jeffrey Tambor and Jill Clayburgh. Last year, Aaron starred in the Miramax feature "Bounce," opposite Gwyneth Paltrow, written and directed by Don Roos, for which she was recently nominated for a Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama/Romance. Before that, Aaron was seen in Mike Nichol's "What Planet Are You From?" opposite Garry Shandling and John Goodman. She previously worked with Mike Nichol on the films "Primary Colors," "Heartburn" and "Working Girl," as well as starring in his Broadway production of "Social Security." Aaron first came to film audiences opposite Woody Allen in his film "Crimes and Misdemeanors." She also worked in three other Allen films, "Deconstructing Harry," "Alice" and "Husbands and Wives." Her filmography also includes the Nora Ephron films "This Is My Life," "Sleepless in Seattle" and "Lucky Numbers," and Robert Altman's films "Come Back To the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean" and "O.C. Stiggs." Other films include Wayne Wang's "Anywhere But Here," Paul Mazursky's "The Pickle" and Stanley Tucci's "Big Night," as well as John Sayles' "Baby It's You" and "Brother From Another Planet." Audiences are also familiar with Aaron from Tim Burton's "Edward Scissorhands" and "House Arrest," as well as numerous television appearances including her most recent guest appearance on the pilot episode of the new ABC hit drama "Gideon's Crossing." Other television appearances include recurring roles on "Judging Amy" and "Once and Again," guest starring roles on "NYPD Blue," "Ally McBeal," "Frasier" and "The Practice," and several made-for-TV-movies including "Tuesdays With Morrie," "Weapons of Mass Distraction," "The Boys Next Door" and "Running Mates." Aaron has an extensive background in theater including appearances on Broadway in "The Iceman Cometh," "Social Security," "I Hate Hamlet," "Come Back To the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean" and the west coast premiere of "The Sisters Rosensweig."

"Amy's Orgasm" marks the second collaboration with Julie Davis for MITCHELL WHITFIELD (Don), having received accolades for his performance in Davis' debut film "I Love You, Don't Touch Me!" Whitfield made his screen debut with a supporting role in Jeremy Irons' "Reversal of Fortune." Six months later, he was cast opposite River Phoenix and Lili Taylor in the Warner Bros. feature, "Dogfight," a movie for which he gained ten pounds to play a surly Marine Private. Little did he know that three months after shooting Dogfight, he would be asked to lose twenty-five pounds for his next film, "My Cousin Vinny," in which he played Ralph Macchio's neurotic sidekick Stan Rothenstein, on trial for his life with Joe Pesci as his lawyer. Other screen credits include the Universal film, "Sergeant Bilko" with Steve Martin, the MGM/UA film "Best Men" co-starring Drew Barrymore and Dean Cain, a co-starring role opposite David Spade as his business partner in "Lost and Found," a role in the Sundance hit "Annie Paul" and, more recently, a supporting role in the independent film "Flies on Cupid," set to be released this year. A graduate of New York's High School of Performing Arts, Whitfield began his career on the New York stage, starring in Neil Simon's "Brighton Beach Memoirs" and "Biloxi Blues." His television credits include the NBC/UPN series "Minor Adjustments," and numerous guest appearances, including several appearances on "Friends" as Rachel's infamous ex-fiancˇ, Barry the Orthodontist. He also starred opposite Peter Dobson in the UPN sitcom "Head Over Heals." Whitfield has worked as a top voice-over artist for the past fifteen years, lending his voice to such commercials as Coca-Cola, Burger King and Blockbuster Video.

JEFF CESARIO (The Priest) was born and raised in Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1975. For the following five years he worked as a writer for newspapers and magazines throughout the Midwest and also worked as a free-lance musician. In 1980, Cesario moved to Minneapolis and launched his career as a stand-up comedian. After quickly attaining regional success, he moved to Los Angeles and, within a relatively short amount of time, made his national television debut on "Latenight With David Letterman" in 1984. Over the next decade, Cesario appeared numerous times on "The Tonight Show," with both Johnny Carson and Jay Leno hosting, as well as many other talk shows. Cesario starred in his own standup specials for both Showtime and HBO. He received a Cable Ace nomination for each, winning two. Using his success as a stand-up comedian, Cesario leaped into writing and producing for television. In 1994, he helped Dennis Miller launch HBO's "Dennis Miller Live," where he functioned as both writer and executive producer, and garnered two Emmy Awards and two Cable Ace Awards in the process. Shortly thereafter, Cesario became a producer and writer on the acclaimed HBO series "The Larry Sanders Show," starring Garry Shandling. In 1998, Cesario moved into features, gaining screen credit for his work on the Warner Brothers feature "Jack Frost." He is currently working on a feature for Michael Douglas's company, Further Films, and Sony/Columbia. He is developing both a feature script of his own and a television series, as well as consulting on Bob Costas's new HBO series. Cesario co-wrote the 2000 Emmy Awards, with Garry Shandling serving as host, and was recently just appointed as host of ESPN's "Reel Classics."

JENNIFER BRANSFORD (Elizabeth) will next appear opposite Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau in the feature, "Made," the duo's first movie together since "Swingers." Jennifer first worked with Favreau last year when she starred in the TV pilot, "Smog," written and directed by Favreau for Columbia / Tristar and UPN. She created the role of Georgia Phillips on ABC's daytime drama "One Life to Live." Jennifer most recently finished shooting the independent feature "Love, Liza" starring Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Throughout his career, MARK BROWN (Mike) has worked in theater, television and feature film. While performing at both the Pennsylvania and Orlando Shakespeare Festivals, he appeared in "The Two Gentleman of Verona," "The Taming of the Shrew," "Othello," "Julius Caesar," "Twelfth Night," "Richard III" and "As You Like It." Among Brown's television credits are appearances on such prime-time series as "Ally McBeal," "Diagnosis Murder," "Providence," "Lawless," "The Cape" and "Seaquest, DSV." Additionally, he has appeared in such made-for-TV-movies and mini-series as "From the Earth to the Moon," the Emmy Award-winning mini-series directed by Tom Hanks, "Murder in the Mirror" with Jane Seymour, "Gold Coast" directed by Peter Weller, "Clover" with Elizabeth McGovern and "Saved By the Light" with Eric Roberts. Brown's feature film credits include roles in "Holy Man," starring Eddie Murphy and Jeff Goldblum, and Steven Soderbergh's critically-acclaimed film "Out of Sight," starring George Clooney and Jennifer Lopez.
